Vielight Inc is poised at the forefront of brain photobiomodulation technology. We combine science with engineering ingenuity to develop devices that incorporate novel methods of delivering photons to the brain and inner systems. Our mission is to engineer photobiomodulation devices that are safe and effective, easy to use and affordable – all to truly help improve one’s quality of life.
The Vielight story started in 1995, when Lew Lim and his colleagues at Silicon Valley invented intranasal photobiomodulation as a non-invasive method of introducing therapeutic photonic energy into the human body. The research and development continued throughout the next decade before Vielight Inc was founded to commercialize the invention.
Officially incorporated in Canada in 2011, Vielight Inc has since evolved into a formidable team of engineers, scientists and business professionals dedicated towards taking the technology to as many people as possible. Vielight’s footprint currently covers North America, Europe, Australia and many other markets.
Photoneuromodulation involves the absorption of photons by neurons, a mechanism that involves brain bioenergetics.
Low level photons may disaggregate and improve the structure of erythrocytes, resulting in enhanced cellular oxygen supply and blood properties.
Vielight Inc offers a union between well-researched science and innovative engineering. Emphasis is placed on effectiveness, safety and ease of use.
The nasal cavity is rich with blood capillaries. It is known to have more capillaries per cm2 than most organs of the body.
Joovv is a US family business whose mission is to manufacture high quality red and near infrared light panels at a price that is affordable for home use. Michael Hamblin, PhD, Associate Professor, Harvard Medical School, is a member of Joovv’s scientific advisory board, Dr. Michael Hamblin is one of the world's leading researchers in the field of light therapy with over 300 published studies on photobiomodulation.
The panels are powered by LED light. LEDs allow for more usable light because of their tight wavelength span. They generate very little heat and are incredibly durable. LEDs are very efficient, they are considered more eco-friendly than incandescent or fluorescent sources. Without a doubt, LEDs are the preferred delivery mechanism for light therapy.
Once absorbed by our body, light energy is converted into cellular energy, or adenosine triphosphate (ATP), triggering a series of metabolic events, such as the formation of new capillaries and elevated production of collagen, which helps enhance healthy cellular function. A simple way to think of this process is that photons (particles of light) essentially charge our cellular batteries.
Light therapy has been studied throughout the world. Specific wavelengths of red and near infrared light within what is often referred to as the “therapeutic window” have been proven across hundreds of peer-reviewed clinical studies to enhance mitochondrial function.
Red light in the mid-600 nm range and near infrared light in the mid-800 nm range are the two ranges of wavelengths that have shown the most positive effects in research studies.
